Using the right hardener
One of the most common mistakes in car paint workshops is the incorrect selection of hardeners when preparing two-component systems.
It's not uncommon to see shelves stocked with materials from different suppliers, which can lead to confusion and mistakes. Sometimes, the wrong hardener from the same manufacturer is used, but other times, a hardener from an entirely different manufacturer might end up in the mix. Initially, the results might appear satisfactory, but can you really trust a result produced from two products that were never tested together? Will the result be the same tomorrow, or in a year?
Each manufacturer carefully tests and guarantees the performance of their products based on their own chemical formulas. This ensures that the materials work in harmony to deliver the desired finish. By using a hardener not specifically designed for the product, you risk suboptimal results or, worse, catastrophic failure. This can lead to customer complaints, expensive rework, and a loss of trust in your services.
To make it easier to avoid these issues, we’ve made identifying the correct hardener for your project simple. Our hardeners and clear coats/primers are clearly labeled with a specific number located at the top, left of the Silco logo. This easy-to-spot identifier ensures that you can quickly and confidently match the right hardener with the correct material, reducing the risk of errors and ensuring a high-quality finish every time.

By following these guidelines and paying attention to the product labels, you can avoid costly mistakes and deliver consistently great results.
